THE COLOR for 2012!
For spring 2012 designers are inspired by diverse influences, showcasing a range of styles and lifestyles, from free and playful and light and breezy, to contemporary classics. Colors likewise reflect these differing moods, encapsulating vivid brights, soft muted tones and fun-loving pastels. "Consumers look to spring for renewed energy, optimism and the promise of a brighter day," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. "They have learned how color can help them alter a mood and provide the vitality and enthusiasm that enables them to experiment with new looks and color combinations." Provocative Tangerine Tango, an enticing juicy orange, is a vivacious and appealing refresher to enliven anyone's outlook this spring. Providing a jolt of energy, Solar Power radiates warmth and cheer. Fanciful Bellflower, a distinct ornamental purple, exudes uniqueness and creativity. Scintillating and sexy, Cabaret is a sensual and intense rosy-red —excellent choice for summer clothing and cosmetics.Sodalite Blue, a classic maritime hue, brings order and calmness to mind. Like an anchor to a ship, this dependable shade works with every color in the palette. Cockatoo, a tactile blue-green, is sure to make your spirits soar. This unusual hue adds a whimsical touch to the palette and will surely make a statement this spring.Margarita, a piquant yellow-green, lifts spirits with its refreshing and stimulating glow. Reminiscent of a blossoming garden on an early spring morning, fragrant Sweet Lilac evokes the fresh scents of summer. This delicate pinkish lilac adds a touch of romance to any wardrobe. Natural versatile neutrals add practicality to this season's brights. Driftwood, an adaptable blend of beige and gray with a slightly weathered feel, and Starfish, a perfect warm summer neutral, complement all colors featured in this season's top 10. For an ultra-bold vibrant look this spring, try mixing Bellflower with Tangerine Tango and Cabaret. Combine Margarita with Sweet Lilac and Cockatoo for a subtle alternative, or combine Margarita with Sweet Lilac and Driftwood for a more practical variation. Solar Power is best juxtaposed with Sodalite Blue. For a safer bet, add a natural neutral like Starfish to the mix. For over 18 years, Pantone, the global authority on color, has surveyed the designers of New York Fashion Week and beyond to bring you the season's most important color trends. This report previews the most prominent hues for spring 2012.

BE TRUE...
I've got angels on the brain...and I have to say I'm having fun drawing them...I have decided that for the next few weeks I'm just going to draw whatever calls to me...I feel like I haven't had time to explore or experiment for a few years. What better time than NOW!I've had a lot of 'frustration' going on lately. It seems that someone wants me to change the way I draw...and the medium in which I feel most comfortable with...it isn't that I can't do 'art' another way...but this is how I'm choosing to create these days. I do it for me...I have been drawing since I was oh so young...(3) and ya know this is where I get my 'joy' from. If someone likes what I create...great, if not that's ok too...it's a BIG world and there's lots of artists out there. I think since the ideas come out of this artist's head...it ought to be what she sees & how she sees it.
My thought for today is...BE YOURSELF! LIVE WITH INTENTION!

MONDAY BLUES
I just can't quite get into things...I'm trying to create, but my sister's cat, Chagall is very ill and we're heading to the vet this afternoon to put him to sleep. Another animal leaving us this year...I wish we didn't get so attached to those 4 legged fur balls...but it's not gonna happen in the house. Since I've been in this home (2003) I've lost 5 animals...2 dogs, 3 cats, actually I don't like the word 'lost'...they died, no other way to say it. Life is so short with these little companions...I treasure every moment. I'm now down to 2 cats & Daddy's dog...a home is just not quite right without a lot of little pitter-patters...and meows. Take care of your fellow creatures...they are counting on you.

TUTU one of my cats that died last year.

PINK SATURDAY!
It is a cold & blustery day here in Portland...almost all the leaves are off the BIG maple tree...
never have I seen so many leaves! But the COLORS of this FALL have been gorgeous! The
reds are so brilliant that they almost hurt your eyes, and the yellows are just plain shocking. COLOR...I LOVE it!
Colors for 2012... Below is PANTONE'S prediction for the coming year...the word for the year is "PRESERVATION"...it is a reflection of our current economic & social climate. The overall desire to connect with our past.

Here is my entry for PINK SATURDAY & for the word PRESERVATION...
get an old pair of tennies & dye them HOT PINK & then go dance in a pile of leaves!

PINK SATURDAY!
It's PINK SATURDAY...and I'm back.
Missed you all...think I've finally found my muse.
THANK GOODNESS!
The last 2 weeks I've been busy designing
a Store Identity package for a client...
from a Logo to packaging.
Fun to get back into that kind of designing...
haven't worked on a logo in years.
The store is coming to downtown BEND, OR
...a hot little village in eastern Oregon.
The name of the shop is..."What Lola wants"...
Check it out around the end of November!
Here is a SNEEK PEEK at the Logo...
