TGIF...

Finally back at creating...have been out of it, since my 'fall' on May 10th!  Watch your step is now my new motto!  At the moment I'm working on new designs for Holidays 2013...here is one of my new series of Cocktail Napkins...I call 'PARTY ON'...this is with some of my favorite wild women caught in the act of celebrating!  I will also be adding paper plates, drinking cups, banners and of course the napkins I show above.   Another series is called...'DOGS GONE WILD'...here is a peek at one of the series for these crazy critters. 

Also working on new ideas for patterns...designs that could be used for Wrapping Paper, Fabric, etc.  I really enjoy creating these...a nice new twist to my work!

TGIF...

Creative...not so much the last few days...darn cold!  I am trying to get some new designs done for the SURTEX show & the Licensing Show in Vegas...but I feel like I'm going at half speed.  I won't be going to either show personally, but have Reps that are taking my stuff.  After 2 years of doing the shows I just did not feel justified in doing it again...each show has run me about $10,000. each...( to a total of over $20,000) so I am begging off of them for this year, we will see what 2013 brings.  I am working and have finished a lot of designs for various companies, but it does take for some of them...well over a year to see them come to the market.  (not complaining yet.)  In order to be in this business of LICENSING you have to have 

1. patience

2. money to get you thru til the checks start rolling in

3. good reps

4. great ideas

5. dedication

6. patience

There that says it all...wish I would have jumped into this years ago, but alas, life got in the way...all i have to say is I am here now...and I am ready for anything.

TGIF...

One of my favorite days...we (sissy & me) go to lunch every friday at a neighbor hood eatery.  We go there often enough that they have our table set and are making up our meals as we walk in the doors.   We have adopted the young kids who work there. (mostly in there 20's)  It's so nice to go and relax at the end of a long & creative week and eat, talk & do a crossword puzzle.  The friday nite is movie night.

Looks like the Hunger Games in on my list tonite...what a lot of hype around this movie, hope it is a thriller!  Taxes...done!  Next week I start to design more 'paper inserts' for Thermo drink ware.  I go and pick up some sample of the first '15' designs next week too...should be fun to see them come to life so to speak.  Well...my PINK SATURDAY people...here's a little something PINK to keep in the 'theme' of it all!  HAVE A FABULOUS WEEKEND!

THE ABSENCE OF COLOR...

Did I say it was SNOWING?  Yes, yesterday was the 1st day of spring & it was SNOWING!  Strange but true...and next to the fluffy piles of white stuff are sweet little daffodils poking their heads out, reaching for the sky.  I have been wrapping up taxes for my accountant...so not feeling really creative this week, but here is a little sketch of a daffodil I did with Corel Draw...ENJOY!

RAIN...RAIN...RAIN...

MARCH 20th...SPRING is here!  
It is raining...so it MUST be spring!  A lot of green things are popping out and so is the color!  I've been thinking a lot about color and how it affects me and my work.  I usually do my work in groups...and they all seem to speak in a certain color palette to me.  I start sketching and before I know it...a COLOR pops up...somehow it just calls to me.  So, I feature it as the star & give it some co-stars and go with it.  Funny how it usually works for me.  Don't know how other artists work, but that is my method.  I know there are colors that are the "IN" ones for the year...and I try to design with those in mind on some projects, but sometimes I just let my COLORS call to me.  See some things I have created lately...

PINK SATURDAY IS HERE!!!

HAPPY ST. PADDY'S day to all!  Ahhh, speaking of the Irish & all things GREEN...with the torrential rain we've had the last couple of days we are REALLY seeing GREEN!  Flood warnings all around.  Hope you all have a wonderful March 17th & celebrate a little bit with some green beer &a wee bit o' blarney.

I have been working on Cocktail Napkin designs this week...(must be why am I hankering for a pina colada?)  Here's a peek at a couple of them.  

The PINK I see this week is my Daphne bush beginning to bloom,

 one of my favorite smells that takes me back to my childhood...

Mom had some of those bushes & the 
smell was always a great harbinger of spring!

PINK SATURDAY...

Another Saturday has arrived...were does the week go?  Will someone please tell me...I need a few more days in my week.  This week has been filled with lots of drawing and that makes me happy.  Still working on my Texas themed project...for drink ware.  I'll let ya know when they hit the stores...

Next week I am starting a new project for COCKTAIL NAPKINS...I think I might have to do some research and have some fun drinks...hmmm let me think?  One PINA COLADA please?  That should get my creative flow going.   To all my PINK SATURDAY friends...please have a wonderful CREATIVE filled week!  THINK PINK!

TGIF...

How does it get to be Friday again...and so fast?  Seems like it was just Monday.  I've been working on designs with the THEME of TEXAS all week...since I'm afraid of horses and not big on cowboys this has been an interesting assignment!  This is a peek at one of the designs I'm playing with...can you say "YEE HAW"?   I am also posting this for PINK SATURDAY...for all you COWGIRLS out there!

It's a great weekend so far and my creative ideas are coming faster than I can sketch them!  I think that this year is going to be one heck of a year...and I say way not?  Just got a new job from my REP...gotta lot of things spinning around in my head about TEXAS!  Can anyone say...COWBOYS?  Yee Haw! CHARTREUSE...

It is a beautiful day today here in the northwest!  Chilly but Sunny...I can see the little tips of the daffodils popping their heads out to show off to the sun...seems they're as excited as I am to see the BIG YELLOW orb.  A favorite thing of mine in SPRINGTIME is all the NEW GREEN buds and leaves that are exploding...ahhh, that fabulous color chartreuse.  Sometimes the color is so bright it hurts your eyes.  I use a lot of this fun color in my work...it just makes me happy.  Today I want to share some wonderful things that SHOW OFF the sweet color of CHARTREUSE!
