Pinking reminds me of my Mom...she was a fabulous seamstress...
I however never could get the hang of sewing, I tried...but it just
wasn't for moi! When sissy & I were getting things organized
for our Garage Sale last weekend...I came across one of my
Barbies...(one with the bubble hair-do) I also found some clothes
that Mom had made me for Babs! She sewed me everything from
wedding dresses to a grey wool coat & muffler that had real 'mink'
trim...can you imagine? She was something on her good old
Singer...that machine sits on a shelf in the studio...looking down
on sissy & I creating. How appropriate...Mom was the person
that always said I could do anything...especially draw. How
lucky was I? EXTREMELY!
Have a truly fantastic PINK DAY!
Mom's little Singer...(it was in a flood about 15 years ago.)
but it does have a place of honor!

Love your share. Soetimes we just aren't meant to do or learn the things that came so easily to our Mother's ... I being one.

Your work is just awesome! Your mom obviously saw the gift within you too. =0)
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!
I learned how to sew watching my mother. I have a vintage Singer which I never use, but it is so pretty, I could never part with it.
ReplyDeleteI have just had a quick look at your Artwork and I love it. You are very talented and I will be back often to spend a few cyber moments sharing your creations. Colourful, clever and witty. Love 'em all.

Happy Pinking Saturday! Great post! My mom is a great seamstress. She can sew anything. She sewed my Barbie doll clothes. I had a fake fur coat and muffler for mine. Bet it was the same pattern! And, a wedding dress and so many more things. They can drive us crazy and inspire us both, huh? Enjoyed my visit. Thanks, Jenn
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday Deidre Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful is this post. Yes, I DO PINK. I love this. Your sweet Momma's sewing machine is just gorgeous. Even though it isn't actually sewn on, you still have it, in your mind you can hear it whirling away as your sweet Momma sewed many beautiful things for Barbie. How sweet is that memory?
I love the place of honor you gave it. You can look up and see it anytime you want. It is beautiful there. You need to get a picture of your Barbie and clothes to hang on the wall behind it. How beautiful that would be.
Hope you have a glorious weekend sweet friend. Thank you for the beautiful share. My Momma still sews on her Kenmore. One day it will belong to me as well. I have such memories of her sewing my Barbies and me clothes on it. Love it. Many hugs and much love from Phoenix, Sherry
Your mom and mine....
ReplyDeleteMy mother was a true artist on her sewing machine as well. And my mother always supported her 6 children to follow their dreams. God bless our mothers!
Wishing you and yours a pinkishly beautiful day...
